Championship:
This is an open event. There are no restrictions on the age or
the level of experience of the crew.
Fours and Eights: These
are sweep-oared events with coxswain in the shell.
Lightweight Crews:
There is no average weight in this event. Each male rowers
must weigh 165.0 lbs. or less. Each female rower must weigh 135.0 lbs. or less.
Master: (singles): 21-42 years old (category AA, A, & B).
Master (crews):
Rowers age must be at least 21 years
as of December 31, 2004.
Senior Master:
43-59 years old (category C, D, & E).
Men's Division:
All rowers in the boat must be male except the coxswain.
Novice:
these athletes have not competed prior to January 1, 2004.
Freshman:
A student enrolled in their first year of college.
Recreational: Boston, Julian Recreational Racer, Little River, MAAS, Martin Trainer,etc.
Veteran:
At least 60 years old (category F & Up)
as of December 31, 2004.
Women's Division:
All rowers in the boat must be male except the coxswain.
Youth:
A rower 18 years old & under. Rowers in college are
excluded from this event.
Club:
This event is limited to persons (including coxswains) who, in any sculling or sweep-oared event (master and veteran events excepted), did not compete beyond quarter finals of the Henley Royal Regatta or finish among the top six places in any of the following regattas: San Diego Crew Classic, Dad Vail, Champion International Intercollegiate Regatta, EARC or EAWRC Springs, Pacific Coast Rowing Championships, NCAA Championships, IRA, Canadian Henley, any major international regatta such as Lucerne-Rotsee, any national, international or world championships or any national team selection trails, during the current calendar year.
Masters/Veterans: HANDICAP RULES: Masters and Veterans events are age-handicapped using the formula established in the USRowing Rules of Rowing prorated for the length of the course. A table showing the handicaps for any given age is available upon request. For crews, the handicap is based on the average age of the rowers or scullers.
Coxswains:
May be of either sex, there is no minimum weight limit.
