Learn to Row

Our Learn to Row Program is designed primarily for working adults and area college students (age 18 and up) who are interested in rowing and would like hands on experience.

Each session is arranged into six classes which are neither competitive, nor overly physical. They are simply an introduction to the sport for people who have never rowed. You do not need to have an athletic background to participate in these classes. At the end of the class, students may join the club and begin rowing as a regular member with access to our weight room and rowing equipment.

You will find that rowing is surprisingly interesting and challenging. It is a “low impact” sport with great physiological and mental benefits.

After completing the class, we invite and encourage you to continue rowing with our Adult (Masters) Program (age 18 and up). Most of the ARC Masters are Learn-to-Row graduates themselves! We offer recreational and competitive levels of rowing participation and you will not need to purchase your own equipment to participate in the Augusta Rowing Club. Joining the club is easy. After completing the Learn to Row Program, you can learn how to become apart of the Augusta Rowing Club from your instructor. You may mail in membership materials or drop them off at the boathouse. Learn to Row graduates will receive $25 off the regular membership.

Getting Started. Takes 4 easy steps:
1: Check the Learn to Row dates and contact us
2: Write a check for $85 made payable to ARC Masters with your name and phone number and mail it to the address below
3: Download and fille out a Learn to Row Application and Waiver, and bring them with you to class
4: Meet at the Boathouse on Orientation Day

Don't forget, please wear shorts that fit close to the thighs - preferably Lycra (Spandex). Excess material will get caught in the wheels under the seats. Bring a water bottle, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen is optional but suggested, particularly in the summer months. Attendance at all classes is not mandatory, though it is highly recommended for your benefit and as a courtesy to the instructor and to other participants. While walk-ons are welcome, please sign up early, at least a week prior to the start date - March, 2012.
