2004 / 2005, Mike assisted with coaching a female athlete in
Seattle, who was a member of the Women’s Heavyweight Double that won
2004 US Olympic Trials, and went on to be a member of the 2005 and

Varsity Women's
Coach: Jason Herold
 My coaching
experience began in 1997 and over the years I have worked with the
novice women, novice men, but primarily with the varsity women. We
have won several regional championships in all different classes of
boats.
I was born in Kentucky, but grew up in
Augusta. I graduated from Evans High School and then rowed for 3
years in college. I competed at the Head of the Charles.
Currently, I work at MCG as Pediatric Transport Coordinator. My
favorite thing to do when I’m not rowing is hanging out with my
children. Taylor is 4 and Chase is 2.
My philosophy on coaching is that you should
enjoy rowing and life, but remember to be successful in both and you
will have to work hard.
Assistant Men's Coach:
Elijah Holsenbeck

I graduated after 4 years at Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Nuclear and Radiological Engineering. I rowed for all 4
years with Georgia Tech in both lightweight and open weight boats.
I made the A-boat through all 3 years of varsity rowing and won gold
in the lightweight 8 at Dad Vails in 2006 and 2007 and bronze in
2008. I also received silver at Head to the Charles in the
collegiate open-weight 8 in 2006. I was coached by Rob Canavan and
Curt Browder while at Georgia Tech. Currently I am employed in
Engineering Support at Plant Vogtle and as the Varsity Men’s Coach
for the Augusta Junior Rowing Team.
Assistant Men's
Coach: Joey Jannik

Joey is a professional chef who works
in the area. He is a previous member of the junior program in
Augusta.
