Our History and
Purpose
The Augusta Rowing Club has supported a rowing program for area high school youth over
the past fifteen years. This program is a parent-run organization
that is supported by the Augusta Rowing Club. The Augusta
Rowing Club, Inc. is a 501 (3) (c) Non Profit Corporation that
supports rowing for youth, adults, and college students in the
CSRA.
Rowing is open to both men
and women in grades 9-12. The team is divided into
Men's Varsity, Women's Varsity, Men's Novice, and Women's Novice
squads. Over the years, students in our rowing
program have come from nearly every high school and private
school in the CSRA.
The program trains over
two principle racing seasons, Spring and Fall, which are
divided by a winter training session.
Because of our climate, we have the advantage of accessing the water
nearly year round in Augusta. Additionally we provides a short noncompetitive summer season with camps for those who
want to try rowing before the Fall Season.
Juniors can expect physical training on land in addition to water
training. Be prepared to train as hard as any high school varsity
sport. We want to develop a well rounded young adult who not
only achieves success in the athletic arena but is also a discipline
student in the classroom. Rowing can teach teamwork, patience, dedication,
and other leadership skills necessary for life.
