2005 - 2006 Coaching Staff

Head Coach, Dr. George Fry, Jr. became involved in rowing in 1991 when the first of his four children became a rower.  His regional coaching experience includes:  Head Coach, Westside High School where, in 1993, he received the Coach of the Year  Award for the Southeast Region Youth Championships, and Assistant and Head Coach of the Clemson University Rowing Club.  At the national level Coach Fry has served as an Assistant and Head Coach with the Elite/National Sculling Team, and he was elected as the Southeast Representative for the Men's Olympic Rowing Team in 1996.  A licensed US Rowing Referee, Coach Fry now serves as the President of the Augusta Rowing Club, after serving as a board member for several years.  He is the Head Coach of it's junior program working as a mentor for the coaching staff.   He has a Doctorate in Education and, after retiring as the Director of the National Science Center, continues to teach part time.  He lives in Augusta and is married to Rosemary McCormick Fry. 

Meagan Matta began rowing during her junior year in high school for the Augusta Junior Rowing Program.  During her senior year, Meagan was a member of the women's quad that competed at the 2004 USRowing Youth National Championships.  She is currently enrolled in massage therapy school here in Augusta. 

Ro Ralph began his rowing career as a coxswain for Clemson University.  After three successful years, he moved on to become a coach.  His coaching experience includes the University of Vermont, Hamilton College, TC Williams High School, and the Old Dominion Boat Club in Alexandria, Virginia.  Ro is a proud member of the United States Navy and is stationed at Fort Gordon for the next three years.  Ro currently holds a US Rowing Level 2 Coaching License.
